CRI&P 104 and Tower in 1964  Contributor's Pick!
Second unit is most probably 104B and third is an Alco FA1. The diamonds are with the GM&O and Santa Fe. Today the number of diamonds is reduced from 16 to four because the Rock's tracks (now Metra) have been reduced to one.

Ron Moraca General Wonderful period rail photo, Marty! The CRIP was a great regional railroad. 11/6/2008 11:10:37 PM
L Beckman General Ron - I've heard the Rock called a lot of things, but never a REGIONAL railroad. Their Official Guide listing said "Serves 14 Western States!" I believe that their Twin Star Rocket was the longest mileage run of any train in the United States. And their Choctaw Rocket was the longest mileage run of any RDC! They had the largest single fleet of 4-8-4's in North America. Regional? I think not! Les 1/31/2012 11:14:29 PM
