Built by Alco-Schenectady in August of 1937, this mighty UP 4-8-4 #810 (serial #68818, class FEF-1) Northern type steam locomotive served the UP until retirement in November of 1954. Caught here in Topeka, KS, by an unknown photographer, the loco had only 3 more years before retirment. Specs - 77" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 24.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 465,000 lb, tractive effort of 63,500 lb. |
