| Idaho Northern & Pacific GP16 1707 (frame no. 6096-4) was parked in the New Orleans & Gulf Coast yard at Belle Chasse, Louisiana, along with NO&GC GP7u 2180. The 1707 arrived on the NO&GC in October 2001 and remained there until June 2004. The locomotive had been built in April 1950 as Seaboard Air Line 1707 and was renumbered Seaboard Coast Line 887. The SCL rebuilt into Clinchfield GP16 4607 in March 1980 and it initially retained the same number on the Seaboard System, but it was later SBD 1707 and then CSX 1707. It was retired on 13 January 1993 and went to the Minnesota Commercial Railroad before moving on to the INPR. The INPR and NO&GC were both owned by the Rio Grande Pacific Corp. |
