PC GG1 #4880 - Penn Central
Wearing the solid single stripe is this former PRR GG1 #4880, now relabeled PC 4880. Built by GE in February of 1939, the loco went from PRR to PC and finally to CR #4880. After nearly 44 years of service the loco was finally retired in 1983. Thanks to Tom Beckett (see comment below), this loco went on after Conrail to the New Jersey Transit to serve out its days on the NYU & Long Branch line between Penn Station and South Amboy,NJ. Thanks, To,m for your help! Unknown photographer

Tom Beckett General Conrail was not its final owner. The engine went to NJ DOT, then to NJ Transit(mostly a paper change, as it was still owned by New Jersey), where it lived out its days on the NY & Long Branch, running between Penn Station and South Amboy NJ. It kept its yellow stripe til the very end. 1/26/2021 5:04:21 AM
