| Here is one of only three lucky 4-8-2's on the CN roster of 83 that survived the scrapper's torch. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in October of 1944, it was nicknamed "Bullet Nose Betty" because of its distinctive cone shaped smokebox door cover. Retirement came in 1959 and luckily it was placed on static display in Jasper, Alberta. Denis Chartrand (see comment below) noted that she was first restored in 1972-73 in Montreal. Thanks, Denis! She was later rebuilt again in 1980 and made several appearances around Canada & the US. She is now owned by the Rocky Mountain Rail Society at the Alberta Prairie Railway, Stettler, Alberta and runs annual excursions. Unknown photographer. |
