The 233 was built at the L&N's South Louisville Shops in 1915 and retired on 16 October 1951. The train was officially dieselized - with FP7A's - on 27 July 1951 and all L&N passenger trains moved to New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on 16 April 1954.
