Darrell Krueger General Note, this was the last steam engine to operate for the Central of Georgia. 8/29/2006 3:29:19 PM
Thomas Hogan General well, it was kind of the last Cg steam loco, but not quite. it was stored in the Central of Georgia's Macon roundhouse until it was presented to the city of Macon in 1959 (it was also restored in Macon). But, the CG advertised they were fully deiselized in May 1953. all steal locomotives left on the CG roster they pretended did not exist, but were all also saved as 'museum pieces' but were all out of active service. I do have to say, that is quite a nice photograph of 509. 1/16/2020 3:56:25 PM
Thomas Hogan General I also must add that this is a nicely framed shot. 2/18/2020 12:27:00 AM
