Alex C General Great shot of the last days of an old workhorse. My personal favorite engine built by Alco. 12/28/2016 11:47:57 PM
Alan Page General Thanks for the kind comment, Alex! Agreed, the RS27's were fine looking locomotives. Thankfully, a few days before this, I was able to see Conrail's last operating RS27, 2407, at Weirton, W Va. 12/29/2016 6:11:45 AM
Gary Everhart General Wow, Alan. This is one of the largest scrap lines of mixed heritage that I have ever seen. Although very sad to see these dead soldiers, thanks for sharing the photos! 12/31/2016 4:24:07 AM
Alan Page General My pleasure to share the photos! When I first saw this deadline in August, 1977, the lines were so long I couldn't get them all in a single shot down the line! The enormity of power sidelined from years of deferred maintenance, or simply too many years of hard work, by the bankrupt 5 (PC, LV, EL, RDG, and CNJ) was in full evidence at Altooona in 1977 and 1978. 12/31/2016 2:41:37 PM
Steve Coraggio General Great to share, 1/16/2017 9:22:31 AM
