| Nickel Plate #171, a 4-6-4 L1-A, was built by Brooks in March of 1927. Thirty years later, the end is very near for this locomotive, as it was sold to Luntz Iron and Steel Company as scrap. Its last month of revenue service was June of 1956. Over a year later, here it sits on Sunday August 18, 1957 by the roundhouse in Bellevue, Ohio. Photo by James Pope. |
