CIL 4-6-2 #412 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)  Contributor's Pick!
Nice example of an 1906 Alco-Brooks built 4-6-2 Pacific as it sits in the 81st yard in Chicago, IL. This loco was a K-2 class Pacific and was rebuilt by the Monon shops in 1921. The class was retired between 1939-47 with CIL #412 being retired in December of 1940 but sold for scrap much later, February of 1947. and. Unknown photographer

Eric Reinert General The Monon wasn't above using Pacifics in freight service if they had to, especially the earlier classes like this one. I've seen a couple of photos of them leading freights on the C&WI. 4/18/2016 3:52:45 PM
