C&O 4-8-2 #543 - Chesapeake & Ohio  Contributor's Pick!       
Built by Alco in 1918, this J-2 class "Mountain" locomotive looks sharp in this Forrest Trittenbach photo. It had 69" drivers and developed 200 psi boiler pressure. Eventually retired in 1952. With the help of Mike Woodruff (see comment below), the location is the Icy City engine terminal. Date of photo is approximate.
