The early years saw activity at a number of yards that would ultimately see downgrades or elimination. The Erie Lackawanna was not an important part of the final CR plan, and much of it was abandoned on the west end. Even the east end saw drastic reductions in traffid, though in 1980 it was still possible to see some activity at Croxton, once ELs main New Jersey terminal, though most traffic had shifted to Oak Island
