Bryan Smith	General	The "H" after the number was referred to as the alpha digit. My understanding is it was a means of verifying the locomotive number. On the Southern if you were a clerk and you were entering locomotive numbers onto a computer generated consist you had to include the alpha digit. Using this locomotive, if you entered SOU 1107F instead of the correct "H",the computer would not take it and you would have to verify the number so as to get the correct number.	1/30/2012 8:29:39 PM
