Coal transfer facility served by AN now closed
Coal from West Virginia was loaded on a train, then was transloaded onto barges on the Ohio river. The barges traveled to Port St Joe, where the coal was transloaded back onto a train. The AN took the train to River Junction, then CSX took it to Bostwick on the A line south of Jacksonville. In 1999, CSX made a back door deal shortly before the contract expired. Now the coal comes straight from West Virginia by train to the power plant in Florida. It was attempted to revive the terminal in the early 2000s by bringing pet coke possibly from Texas. The trials were possibly unsuccessful and the facility was closed. The MTI engine ex C&O was transfered to Clyattville on the Valdosta Railway.
