SRT4001BKK
Title:  SRT4001BKK
Description:  In a sad looking condition, SRT 4001 readys her train to leave Bangkok Central station in this 2013 photo. [One of my very first contributions to the RRPA website!] I was very lucky to find her, as this is the class engine in her series and is among the oldest still operating class of power on the SRT. This nearly 50 year old GE is a model UM12C which is a cousin to our WP&Y shovelnoses, having 2 660 hp engines which make a delightful chortle as they bustle about. She is in very faded but original paint.

50 years old and she's got it goin on!
Title:  50 years old and she's got it goin on!
Description:  Freshly painted and low numbered UM12C 4005 waits to start another run out of Hua Lamphong Station. After getting this photo the engineer came back into the cab and instantly put her from idle to run 9, either to do a load test or air up fast: she responded flawlessly and made an awesome sound show heard throughout the station!

SRT4007TKS
Title:  SRT4007TKS
Description:  From the lens of Ms. Sarnt, this is the 'classic' postcard view of a train on the Tham Kra Sae viaduct. It is the first train of the day, crossing at the still sleepy but relatively 'cool' hour of 6:11 am. This train is inbound to Bangkok and before crossing sounded off, waking us up!

SRT 4012HLP
Title:  SRT 4012HLP
Description:  It is 2014, not the 1960's as this photo appears to suggest..the Sepia version simply came out beautifully! UM12C no. 4012 appeared suddenly out of nowhere with this train, ready to set out from HuaLamPhong after backing it in. The color photo shows it more distinctly but it appears that she was hastily pulled out of long term storage [or, {cringe} dead line?] and put into service as the cab windows aren't even clean!! -One of my fave photos-Gotta luv the SRT!!!!

Title:  SRT 4014PHY
Description:  A great catch! UM12C 4014 was being switched among the shop tracks by AD24's. At first I thought this was a regional variant of the SRT UM12 scheme but upon closer inspection it is a fresh repaint in her original colors!

Oil Bath!
Title:  Oil Bath!
Description:  In urgent need of major TLC, SRT UM12C 4022 scurries about switching cars at Hua Lamphong Station. The poor thing was running fine, either she was next to another unit which had a spectacular fail, someone missed the mark fueling up, or she 'soiled' herself ['ouch!' -4022's a GE after all!]. I photo'd her on Dec. 5 sans those nasty oil stains!

SRT 4023W pass Pha Sadet memorial
Title:  SRT 4023W pass Pha Sadet memorial
Description:  Just 1/2 mile downhill of Pha Sadet station is this memorial at the end of the road and valley. There is a parking area and a short walk takes guests to this viewing patio, while another path crosses the tracks to the memorial on the opposite side. Just out of view to the left is a small shrine for those who wish to pay respects. We were alerted to this light return helper movement by a soft crossing chime which sounded about 45 seconds before anything showed, a great safety consideration and prepatory notice for Guests who linger here. I took the photo a bit prematurely in order to get the memorial in and not blocked out. This rock was left in place when the line was built through here in 1895 and may have been minimally cut to clear train sides. The then King and Queen of Siam [HRH's Rama 5] had a residence near here and inscribed thier names on the rock, thus turning it into a place of notability.
