Nice example of a MoPac Shops Northern-type 4-8-4 locomotive rebuilt from a 2-8-4 between 1940-42. Note the crew member on top of the loco doing an inspection. Specs - 75" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 445,950 lb, tractive effort of 66,640 lb, two thermic syphons (one in the combustion chamber, one in the firebox proper), Worthington feed water heater. No date, location or photographer listed. |
