Description:  Appropriately named "Hercules" from the naming contest that the Boston & Maine held, this was the heaviest 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive built in the US. The loco was built by Baldwin in June of 1941 but it barely 14 years before being scrapped in September of 1955. Specs - serial # 62540, class R-1d, 73" drivers, 28x31" cylinders, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 415,200 lb, tractive effort of 67,900 lb. Unknown photographer
