PRR 9617, AF-16, 1961
Title:  PRR 9617, AF-16, 1961
Description:  4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during January of 1961. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9617, #9602-B, and #9603. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9617 is an AF-16 built in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #9602-B and #9603 are AF-15's built in 1948 and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. They are parked just East of the 7th Street Bridge, awaiting orders for their next mission on a frigid Winter's day. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
