Description:  Here is a re-builder's photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1223, a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Works during 1905 for passenger service. This photo was taken on Friday, 11 June 1937. During October of 1960, #1223 was leased to the Strasburg Railroad for excursion purposes; in due course, it ended up as an exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Shown here is PRR engine #1223, a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16B during 1905, rebuilt as a D-16SB, sold to the Strasburg Railroad in October of 1960, and presently on exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.
