Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. The westbound ore train headed by PRR engine #6011 continues to rumble-on in the foreground.

Description:  Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. On the left (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are returning to East Altoona after helping or pushing a train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, Pennsylvania. On the right (L to R) are PRR engines #2534, #2247, and #7163. #2534 is a GF-25 built by GE in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2247 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7163 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are pulling a 43-car eastbound merchandise train with N-8 caboose #478032.

Shown here are two sets of helper/pusher units returning to East Altoona for more runs up the Allegheny Mountains and back. On the right are PRR engines #6304 and #6303.
