Tight Quarters
Title:  Tight Quarters
Description:  A fairly newly-rebuilt SD60E is on the point of this empty NS ballast train. Here, it threads the needle between stopped CSX trains Q418 (left) and Q417 (right) just north of CP Belmont.

K040 arrives at Eastside Yard
Title:  K040 arrives at Eastside Yard
Description:  CSX train K040 arrives at its destination at CSXs Eastside Yard in Philadelphia after traveling approximately 2,000 miles from the Bakken shale of North Dakota. The train is seen pulling out of the Grays Ferry Tunnel. This tunnel was built by the B&O railroad in 1918. Of note, this photo was shot on the 40th Anniversary of June 15, 1973; the date that the B&O, C&O, and WM officially came to form the Chessie System. Thus began a successful alliance amidst the uncertainty of east coast railroading in the early 1970s. It is an important day in CSX history. Moreover, this is probably the only day that I was actually kind of disappointed to see an all-foreign consist on this CSX train. Kind of.

K533 passes K532
Title:  K533 passes K532
Description:  Bauxite train K533 rumbles past its empty counterpart K532 at Eastside Yard in Philadelphia. This train is running along the ex-B&O Philadelphia Subdivision and this photo was taken on the exact 40th anniversary of the official date that the C&O and B&O became aligned in the Chessie System. Admittedly, its a bit of a stretch, but I think it adds a little history to the shot.

Q034 takes priority
Title:  Q034 takes priority
Description:  Less than a minute after NS 39G rolled by, CSX Q034 came into view. 39G slowed to a snails pace and eventually stopped as Q034 hustled past.
