B&O 9913 farewell photo
Title:  B&O 9913 farewell photo
Description:  After about 5 years of service with the Fayette Central Railroad, the lease on this is up and it has gone back to the B&O museum in Baltimore. It had a great run and Ill miss seeing it running the rails in the summer. The Fayette Central Railroad website gives this description: " The fourth Rail Diesel Car ordered by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad rolled out of the Budd Corporations Red Lion plant in Philadelphia on April 15, 1953 and joined the Pittsburgh commuter pool for the Pittsburgh to Versailles route. On February 1, 1975, the Port Authority of Allegheny County took over the commuter service and leased 9913 until 1981. It was then leased to the Maryland Department of Transportation for use in the Washington-Baltimore area. MARC purchased it in 1991, and it was retired on January 8, 1993. 9913 was donated to the B&O Railroad Museum as the last RDC to retain its original B&O lettering. She has had minimal changes throughout her service life. The Fayette Central Railroad has leased the 9913 from the B&O Railroad Museum collection and restored the car to its original paint scheme inside. Ride in air-conditioned comfort."

PC 18086 (2)
Title:  PC 18086 (2)
Description:  Some passengers go for a ride on this caboose which is now owned by the Fayette Central Railroad. Built for the New York Central in April 1942. Today they were doing runs every hour between Wheeler and Dunbar, Pa. They don't bring this one out too much so I was glad to get another photo of it.

Fayette Central Railroad, December 2012
Title:  Fayette Central Railroad, December 2012
Description:  The sun is setting on the Fayette Central's third run of the day, and on this railroad in general. A month of special Santa Claus trains will close out the era of the Fayette Central's vintage passenger trains on the former B&O Sheepskin Branch. The train is seen pausing here for a photo-op on the Greene Junction Bridge over the tranquil waters of the Youghiogheny River. This photo has been published in the February 2013 issue of Railpace Magazine.

Title:  Santa Likes Trains Too
Description:  On passenger car PESX 5061 on the Fayette Central Railroad. I am posting this photo in remembrance of all the victims of the recent school shooting in Newport, CT, who will not be around to see Santa Claus this year or to receive the gifts their families bought for them. I hope the coming year will bring more peace and kindness to our world.
