Description:  Built by the CNJ Shops in Elizabethport, NJ, in 1913 as a class D4 member, the camelback served until being scrapped. It appears that the loco may be already in a storage/scrap line here. Unknown photographer.

Title:  CNJ 0-6-0C #12 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Here is a stubby 2-6-0C camelback switcher built by Alco-Brooks in May of 1902 (serial number 26002, class 1). the little loco had 51" drivers with 20x26" cylinders It was reclassified in 1919 as class B3a and again reclassified in 1945 as class 6531. In February of 1952, the little tyke met the scrapper's torch. No date was given for the photo. Unknown photographer

CNJ 4-8-0C #438 - Central RR of New Jersey
Title:  CNJ 4-8-0C #438 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Built in April of 1899 by the Brooks Locomotive Works before it joined Alco, this hefty CNJ 4-8-0C #438 (serial #2179, class 430) camelback was one of the largest camelbacks in the CNJ roster. It had 55" drivers and 20x32" cylinders. The loco was rebuilt in April, 1917 to class K1s with 20x32" cylinders and rebuilt again in July of 1921 to class K1as. Finally it was reclassified as class TW40 in 1945, The loco met the scrapper's torch at Elizabethport, NJ in July of 1946. No exact date given for the photo. Unknown photographer

Title:  CNJ 0-8-0C #294 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Although I couldn't find any exact builder info on this CNJ 0-8-0C camelback, it was built in 1918 by either, Alco, Baldwin or CNJ shops with the latter being the best guess. The entire E1 class (later reclassified as 8S53 was scrapped between 1948-1954. No photographer was listed for this photo.

Title:  CNJ 0-6-0 #25 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Built by the CNJ's own shops in 1910, this 0-6-0 camelback (class B-3b and later 6S31 class) lasted for many years before heading to the scrap heap sometime between 1947-1954. Note the water cascading from the tender due to an overfill. No photographer was given for the photo.

Title:  CNJ 2-8-0C #678 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1906 (serial #39436), this 2-8-0 camelback had 61" drivers and 21x32" cylinders. The loco was reclassified as class I4 in 1919 and then rebuilt at Elizabethport, NJ in September of 1921 with a new classification of I4s It was again reclassified in 1945 as C39 just 2 years before being sold for scrap in June of 1951. Title:  CNJ 4-6-0C #174 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in June of 1903 (serial #27792, class 150), this beefy looking camelback had 69" drivers and 20x28" cylinders. It was reclassified in 1919 as class L5b, rebuilt by Schenectady in September of 1923 and reclassed L5es. It again was reclassified in 1945 as T32. In June of 1951, it was sold for scrap.
