Album Info:Today my friend TJ and I took a big chance on one of the most undocumented railways in the United States. Let's just say we were more than surprised and pleased with what we got! Enjoy!

NS 9975
Title:  NS 9975
Description:  Today my friend TJ and I had planned on going to Elkhart for the day. However, plans ended up changing and he wouldnt be able to come up north. Instead of letting the day be a flop I decided that I would go down to his neck of the woods so we could still enjoy this beautiful day watching trains. So, we decided to take a big risk; watching the CNUR in action. I was told earlier in the day there were plans to work Neal Scrap Metal in New Castle, then interchange some storage cars out with CSX later in the day. The CNUR has been a huge bucket list item of mine, the only problem is the operations of the railroad are almost completely unknown since the railroad only serves a single customer and most of the railway is used to simply store cars. However, it was a risk we were willing to take. When I got down to Muncie I picked up TJ and things on the NS were looking a bit busy, so we decided to hit up Noel real quick just south of Muncie, and a few moments later NS L82 passed with a Dash 9 hammerhead forward with cars for New Castle and Richmond.

CNUR 5
Title:  CNUR 5
Description:  Upon arrival in New Castle, we were not greeted with the surprise of the CNUR crew there, rather two very quiet engines. CNUR 5 where it is usually parked, and WBCR 6, which was caged away at Neal Scrap Metals. We decided that they must have already done the New Castle work, so we decided to follow the CNUR back to Connersville. However, about 10 miles out of New Castle we got a Facebook notification that NS 123 had 5 ex-KCS SD70MACs that were recently repurchased by Progress Rail that were bound for storage in Georgia. So another pitstop was in the makings.

CNUR 20
Title:  CNUR 20
Description:  We arrived in Connersville, and to our surprise both engines that are currently operative on the Connersville side of the railway, CNUR 20 and MAW 4, were in the yard but were online. We decided to take a couple minutes and see what they might end up doing. I figured that they were probably already done for the day, but TJ kept convincing me that they werent and something was going to happen. Sure enough, an engineer hopped in the cab of CNUR 20, one of the trucks took off, and the engines did too, but going north instead of south to the CSX interchange. At this point both of us were crazy confused. But hey, this was the first time either of us had even seen one of these engines move. Well take what we can get! We moved quickly to the State Road 1 crossing immediately north of town and first shot the engines there.

CNUR 20
Title:  CNUR 20
Description:  The engines cross the road that goes straight into the airport, passing a windmill nacelle that had recently been loaded off of a CNUR train and onto a truck. All summer, BNSF has been delivering trains of windmill blades and nacelles to the CNUR via CSX where they are transported to the Connersville airport and are loaded on to trucks. From there, the blades and nacelles are taken north to a windmill field that is going to be built around the New Castle area (?). However, it was apparent that the engines were not there to pick up empty flats and bring back to BNSF, so we knew we were really in for something at this point.

Id imagine if any of these people live around here they are probably just as shocked as we are that a train is passing through this crossing!

CNUR 20 and MAW 4
Title:  CNUR 20 and MAW 4
Description:  The engines finally came to a stop at CR 400S a mile northwest of New Lisbon. The engineer stepped out of CNUR 20 and fired up MAW 4, while the conductor hopped onto CNUR 20 as to protect a shoving move. While coming down we noticed a long line coal hoppers that were in storage between New Castle and New Lisbon, so it came to our minds that maybe they were going to pick a couple of them up and place them somewhere else along the line.

Description:  The engines did end up backing down into the long set of coal hoppers and dragged them closer to the road. They stopped momentarily at the road and thats when we were greeted with quite the surprise. At once TJ and I felt an adrenaline rush. This chase was far from over!
