Album Info:We flew into Fort Lauderdale and stayed in Cocoa Beach. All I can say is what a good time! Space X rocket launch viewed from Titusville followed by a Kennedy Space Center tour, spent some beach time with Karen, visited with some friends in Punta Gordo and ate alot of serious seafood dinners. And the train part was excellent! Thanks to WC Wiese and Stephie Kolata for their help. The locations were good ones for sure :0)

Description:  Ex-Norfolk Southern GP49 #4603, nee Southern GP39X demonstrator #4603 (EMD 11/1980). NS had the 6 GP39X locomotives upgraded to GP49 specs in 1982. The 12 cylinder 645F3B prime mover developed 2800HP but the engines were considered sluggish accelerating even a light train. Only 9 production GP49s were built, all for the Alaska RR. The main external difference between the GP49 & GP50 is 2 vs. 3 cooling fans respectively. NS retired them in 2001 and Mid America Car installed HEP and derated them to 2400HP, chopped down the high nose and sold all 6 to Tri Rail in 2006 where they are now designated GP49H-3.

Description:  Bombardier 1989...11 cab cars seat 173 and 15 blind cars seat 179. All 26 were delivered in GO Transit (Toronto) colors with only numbering as part of a joint order. The cars were purchased new and never used or sold secondhand by GO. In 2015 3 of the blind coaches had one side of the lower level seating removed to make room for a bike rack. A derailment in 2016 claimed 2 of the coaches.

Description:  These locomotives contain an MTU 20V4000 V20 engine rated at 3,621 horsepower with a Caterpillar C-18 gen-set for HEP. The 822 is one of the original 10 built by Brookville Locomotive in 2012. That order was the first V20 powered passenger power (as opposed to a freight locomotive with a steam generator added) built in the US since the Milwaukee Road FP45s of 1968.
