St. Louis - San Francisco (Frisco) 2-10-0 steam locomotive 1630 at the Illinois Railway Museum. These had originally been built in 1918 as 5 foot gauge for Russia but the order was cancelled due to the Russian Revolution. They were modified to run on standard gauge by putting wider tires on them. Its a little hard to see in this photo, but the tires overhang the outside edges of the rails somewhat because of this. |
