These track once hosted Soo Line passenger trains 1,2, 5 and 6 to Chicago until the last one left on 1/15/1965. There were a couple shippers left in NSP until the end in summer 1982, when the rest of this 5 or 6 miles of track to Trout Brook Jct was removed. |

Heading south at 6 pm, I was riding Amtrak 10, the North Star to St. Paul and caught shot going over the Interstate twin swing bridges that used to cross the bay from Duluth. They were both deemed a navigation hazard in the mid 80s and were expensive for the BN railroad due to double bridge tenders, 24 hours a day. The entire structure was removed about 1988-89 and there is no trace of its existence left! |
